The Student Ambassador program’s mission is to foster open dialogue between law enforcement and students.
The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Wellness Unit hosted a Family Lunch Day at both the Yaphank and Riverhead Correctional facilities. This event gave officers the opportunity to share a meal and spend time with their families during the workday, in an environment that acknowledges the unique stress of working in a correctional setting with short breaks and long hours.
Our goal was to strengthen the connection between officers and their families, boost morale, and provide a meaningful, low-cost outlet for stress relief during the workday.
This event was well attended by both officers working that day and their families. The Wellness Unit provided food, beverages, wellness giveaways and also had a station for face-painting.
Without the support of the Sheriff’s Foundation, this event would not be possible.
